초록
New product development process significantly influences performance of product design and development system. Many researchers and practitioners established different new product development process models based on various knowledge background and practical experiences. While, there is lack of literature to comprehensively analyze and discuss distinct new product development processes. This research studied different new product development processes and their typical features from engineering design perspectives. This paper presented various models of new product development process, analyzed impacting factors to the performance of product development systems, commented both advantages and shortcomings in the real world operation environment. Results from this research would be beneficial to those researchers, practitioner and managerial personnel in engineering enterprises.
