Drones are increasingly being used in a various industry due to their low cost and capability. In addition to their legitimate application, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are now being used for illegal objectives such as smuggling, lawful monitoring, targeted attacks and cybercrime. Law enforcement agencies, medical legal investigators and cyber security experts have significant challenges in recognizing, assessing and evaluating the rising usage of unmanned aircraft to mitigate these hazards. The current study highlights some elements of unmanned aircraft crime, such as avoiding the deployment of malevolent aircraft, recovering digital evidence and identifying dangers by learning by doing. There is currently no comprehensive framework that unifies criminal unmanned aircraft operations, law enforcement methods and forensic analytical methodologies. This study thoroughly analyzed the most common methods that unmanned aircraft were utilized for criminal objectives, as well as forensic procedures for evaluating data captured without human interaction, such as newspaper flights, pictures and videos. It also proves the requirement of collaboration between cybersecurity, forensics experts and the execution of laws and it shows severe inadequacies in the methodology used in existing surveys. This study, which incorporates data from numerous case studies and sources, provides an overview of field technique as well as recommendations for future research.
