Evaluating ETL/HTL Materials for Optimized Performance in Perovskite Solar Cells

This study focuses on designing an optimized Perovskite solar cell (PSCs). In recent years, the efficiency of organic-inorganic perovskite solar cells has exceeded 29.15%, which is almost 30%. PSCs' performance is heavily influenced by the electron and hole transport layers (ETLs and HTLs). In this paper, we analyze the impact of various combinations of ETLs and HTLs for accomplishing enhanced highly efficient CH3NH3PbI3-based PSCs using SCAPS-1D. The selected ETLs were C60, SnO2, MoO3, and HTLs were PTDOT: PSS, Spiro-OMeTAD, CuI. A total of 03 cells were investigated to attain the maximum power conversion efficiency (PCE). The optimal efficiency of 35.73% was yielded by a cell having MoO3 as ETL and CuI as HTL. It has certain applications, it can be integrated with silicon or other photovoltaic materials to create a tandem structure, and it enhances the overall efficiency, of flexible solar cells, high-efficiency PSCs, etc.
