초록

Intensive research has focused on structuring and managing data collected from sensors since there has been a drastic increase in the number of sensors deployed in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The collected data is organized using a database to reduce the energy consumption attributed to communication during network operation and the time delay required for query response. Existing literature primarily focuses on discussing different scenarios considering the inclusion of a mobile robot traversing the network. The robot is responsible for charging depleted sensors so that network lifetime will be maximized. A lightweight distributed database management solution approach is proposed in this paper to maximize these efforts. The proposed approach utilizes a multi-function hybrid robot (HR) that traverses the network to charge sensors’ batteries. The HR will perform incremental status collection, data gathering and management, and cyclic data delivery to the base station (BS), which in turn will forward the data to a remote database server that is connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) cloud.
