With the construction and expansion of cities in recent decades, the urban municipal drainage network has become increasingly complex and massive. Traditional methods, due to heavy workload and low work efficiency, can no longer meet the current needs of drainage management. With the rise of GIS (Geographic Information System) and computer technologies in the new era, the use of information-based management methods to reduce workload and improve management efficiency has brought new technologies and opportunities for the management of water supply and drainage networks. This article analyzes the closely related characteristics between urban drainage network resources and GIS technology, and proposes a geographic information system platform for urban drainage network based on GIS technology and database management technology, combined with the specific application needs of cities. The design of the information system platform is introduced from the aspects of overall architecture and database construction. Finally, based on the practical development needs of YF city, the application of geographic information system for drainage network is further introduced.
