A Framework of Computerized Database Management System based on Web Module for Biomedical Engineering Department in Hospital

A database is an organized collection of data that allows content to be easily accessed, managed, retrieved and updated when required. A Web-based Biomedical Database Management System was developed for a multispecialty hospital to provide assistance for the hospital in order to manage and maintain their own database. Data of 348 medical equipment from 15 departments in the hospital were collected and each of the device was assigned with a unique asset number according to NABH standards and for ease of representation. The web module is built by Java language. My SQL (My Structured Query Language) is utilized to run the user information. The proposed system has the capability to manage the database of medical devices from the initial log-in to the service provided. Three login credentials are allotted for admin, biomedical engineer and nursing staff. Administrators can add asset name, device information, medical department, device serial number, and warranty expiration date. A dashboard is also provided to view total assets, complaints, and planned preventive maintenance (PPM) data. Nursing staff can file complaints, and biomedical engineers can review complaints. A notification pop up appears after the login page so as to enhance the user experience and intimate the updated information.
