Data mining techniques to analyze traffic accidents data: Case application in Morocco

Traffic accidents present a significant hazard in Morocco. Driving practices are very poor and they lead to serious injuries in the country claiming an average of at least 10 lives and 200 injuries per day. In this research 1953 instances were analyzed using different graphs and data mining techniques. K-means algorithm was chosen as a classifier to find similarities between data and extract hidden information that could not be identified by graphs. Results were used to provide valuable suggestions to the Ministry of transport and equipment in order to help reduce road traffic accidents.
