Design and implementation of waterway facilities management database based on GIS

Aiming at the current status of waterway facility management with the low degree of information, a section of the Sunan Canal was taken as the research object, the idea of constructing a GIS-based canal waterway facility management database was proposed. The facilities were converted into vector graphics according to geometric characteristics and classified according to types. The spatial distribution of facilities was expressed by superimposing thematic layers. The attribute structure was used for storing information related to the waterway. In order to ensure the accuracy of data transfer, the waterway element coding should be designed in a standardized way, the multimedia data should be linked to reduce the response time of the database, and the topological relation should be used to control the quality of spatial data. By constructing a waterway facility management database, not only the integration of waterway information and two-way query of information are realized, but also spatial information measurement, data statistical analysis and thematic map production can be carried out. The database is taken as an example to provide a reference for waterway information management.
