Database Management Systems (DBMS) are essential components of information systems, playing a critical role in data storage, management, and retrieval. However, with the continuous evolution of database technologies and the increasing complexity of application environments, DBMS face unprecedented challenges in terms of security and stability. Fuzz testing, an effective software testing technique, involves the automated generation and input of large volumes of random data to uncover potential vulnerabilities and errors within the system. It has been widely applied to test DBMS and has identified numerous vulnerabilities. This paper reviews the current state of fuzz testing techniques for DBMS, including technological challenges and application domains. It then categorizes and introduces typical DBMS fuzz testing tools from various perspectives. Finally, the paper discusses the current challenges and difficulties in DBMS fuzz testing and provides an outlook on future research directions.
