Analyzing the Global AI Governance Ecosystem

초록
This paper analyzes the global landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) governance by examining key similarities, differences, and areas of tension between the approaches of the United States, China, and Europe. We find that the United States has adopted a relatively decentralized, hands-off approach to AI governance, China has strengthened government oversight over the AI industry, and Europe has primarily adopted a strong regulatory framework focused on mitigating risks posed by AI systems. Understanding these differences is critical as policymakers and companies alike continue to navigate a complex and fragmented global landscape in AI.
