The electron transport layer (ETL) film materials were critical in the CZTS photovoltaic (PV) cell, which required excellent electron capture and a low minority carrier loss in ETL films. The high-minimization of minority carrier loss and high capture of ultraviolet (UV) photon-based ETL or buffer layer materials-based CZTS PV cells have been limited to development till now. Therefore, several researchers are investigating the high UV light-absorbing ETL materials for the making of efficient CZTS PV cells. In this paper, we model and analyze the proposed CZTS PV cell with the incorporation of novel wide energy bandgap and high UV light-capturing Mg-CeO2 ETL materials. By placing the investigational constraints of each layer material to AFORS-HET, we first match the energy band alignment between Mg-CeO2 and CZTS layers and optimize the thickness and doping density. After optimization, the proposed device produced better performance in terms of η = 26.95%, JSC =29.38 mA/cm2, VOC =1089 mV, and FF = 84.28% compared to the existing device.
