SQL Queries requested by client from the server’s database was abstracted and managed purposely to locally respond to similar requested queries. Management of requested queries by the client involves query similarity evaluation, abstraction, utilization and elimination. Overlap coefficient was used to evaluate the similarity between the abstracted query and the requested query where their respective query text served as the set. Query abstraction for a requested query was performed if it achieved an overlap coefficient of less than 1. Abstracted query was utilized to respond to requested query if the computed overlap coefficient between them is 1 and the number of sets in the abstracted query is greater or equal to the number of sets in the requested query. All abstracted queries with computed overlap coefficient of 1 between the requested query and their number of sets is less than to the number of sets in the requested query was eliminated. Additionally, abstracted queries were purged if they were affected by database updates made into the server’s database which was accomplished by analyzing the query logs of the database of the server using cardinality intersection. Result of the testing shows that the client was not only able to respond to similar requested queries using the abstracted query but also the response time of using the abstracted query in responding similar requested query was evidently decreased.
