Coping with Ethical Challenges in AI Applications - an Islamic Perspective

This paper investigates various ethical challenges of AI in its different applications from an Islamic perspective. It describes Islamic ethics and its main tenets as a framework to guide AI applications and discusses questions of the supposed superiority of AI over human intelligence; possible AI sentience, and different other aspects. It concludes that the development of an ethical framework for the usage of AI is essential to avoid possible harms, as is the mastery of AI tools among Muslim specialists and laymen.
