The Need for Certification-Based Security Curriculum: A Matter of National Security

Recognizing the importance of Information Security in industry today, the relevant strategy literature offers several anecdotal and prescriptive narratives to strengthen security curriculum. The National Security Agency reports employees are lacking sufficient knowledge in Information Security. This educational crisis is compromising companies and countries at a cost of billions of dollars every year. Current literature provides neither clear information nor an organizing framework to improve Information Security education. This paper presents methods for design and implementation of an effective Information Security curriculum at institutions of higher education.
