Overview of Research on Traffic Safety and Driving Behavior in China

Drivers always face traffic problems caused by vehicle, environmental and human factors in the driving process on road. Thereby these problems affect drivers’ behavior and road traffic safety. Through the analysis & evaluation of traffic safety factors and driving behavior, it is extremely important to explore countermeasures to control driving behavior and improve the quality of traffic safety. Therefore, it is necessary to start with driving behavior or use drivers’ personality characteristics, emotional state to conduct traffic safety management. 1971 articles related to driving behavior and traffic safety research published in 2011-2021 obtained from the core database of CNKI. Among them, there are 112 documents meeting the retrieval requirements, covering 381 authors and 568 keywords. Based on the visual analysis of social networks, the documents in driving behavior field are sorted and analyzed. The results show that authors in traffic safety and driving behaviors field focus on distracted driving, intelligent driving, high-speed driving and other directions. Scholars cut from the perspectives of drivers' personality characteristics, types, road traffic conditions, etc., focusing on the topics of fatigue driving, emotional driving, experience driving, bad weather and markings. In traffic safety and driving behaviors field, the results of distracted driving, fatigue driving, bad weather driving and autonomous driving technology in China are relatively fruitful. However, scholars have done too little research on high-speed driving, drunk driving, drug driving and professional driving. Meanwhile their research methods are still relatively traditional. In the core journal literature of driving behavior field, topics such as the mining and analysis of traffic accident information data, the mining and analysis of driver behavior data, the actual vehicle test and the application of natural driving methods have been revealed in 2022.
