The rapid expansion of IoT devices has led to increased cybersecurity risks due to their limited computing power, constrained networks, and diverse architectures. Traditional security measures are often ineffective in such environments. This paper assesses the effectiveness of various encryption and authentication methods in IoT networks, specifically analyzing the MQTT, CoAP, and HTTPS protocols in different IoT applications. Additionally, it explores emerging security solutions such as blockchain-based decentralized authentication and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven intrusion detection systems. These approaches offer promising advancements in real-time monitoring, privacy preservation, and anomaly detection. The study finds that blockchain enhances authentication security, while AI-based techniques improve threat detection. However, challenges remain in balancing security with energy efficiency. By addressing existing security gaps, this research lays the foundation for designing future IoT security strategies that are both robust and resource-efficient. The findings contribute to the ongoing development of secure IoT frameworks capable of withstanding evolving cyber threats.
