Considering that the risk during the operation period of gas storage will have a greater impact on safety production, this paper constructs a complex network risk propagation and traceability model for the operation period of gas storage based on the theory of complex network from defining the initial risk, the risk capacity, and defining the principle of risk propagation. Based on this model, the risk propagation chain is calculated to reveal the risk propagation process during the operation period of gas storage, and the risk control and risk traceability are further realized by combining the risk propagation characteristics. The results show that fire and explosion, production disruption, pipeline freeze blockage, and personnel electrocution are consequences of accidents of higher importance, and their source nodes are natural gas pulsation, aging of equipment and facilities, insulation failure of containers, and insulation failure. This paper reveals the critical risk propagation paths by defining the principles for identifying the critical risk propagation paths in complex networks, provides the basis and support for accident prevention, and provides reliable risk monitoring and early warning tools for operation managers.
