Assessing the Effects of Applying Different Simulation Models on Resilience Evaluation of Critical Infrastructure Systems

초록

Critical infrastructure systems (CISs) are fundamental and significant to the cities operation. There are many existing network-based modeling methods to study the resilience of CISs under failures, but these studies failed to identify the differences of the above models. Therefore, this study aims to compare the differences of CIS resilience simulation results under different models. Three different network-based models will be applied to simulate the failure and recovery process of CISs to study the differences of interdependent CISs under different combinations of models. The results show that the failure rates of failure nodes in CISs are different under different model combinations, that the system resilience evaluated by flow-based network model simulation is the highest. Also, the overall resilience level of the whole system may be higher than that of two given separate systems respectively.
