Industrial exoskeletons for secure human–robot interaction: a review

초록

Realizing secure human–robot interaction is a key aspect of Industry 5.0’s “human-centric”. As human involvement is essential for precise operations and wise decision-making in industrial production, industrial exoskeletons can assure worker safety while enhancing productivity during human–robot interaction. To promote industrial exoskeletons to better realize human–robot security in industrial interaction scenarios such as automobile assembly, logistics handling, etc., the key factors and challenges affecting industrial exoskeletons are analyzed, and the research progress is summarized. Industrial exoskeletons are classified into static-, dynamic-, and special-work scenario-oriented ones according to different work scenarios and needs. It also analyzes the industrial exoskeleton technology in five aspects: mechanism design, control system design, interactive information perception, variable stiffness drive and interactive interface design. On the basis of which, it analyzes the problems faced by the development of industrial exoskeletons at present, proposes the solutions to the problems, and looks forward to the development trend of realizing secure human–robot interaction with the help of industrial exoskeletons.
