Optimization of Signal Processing Method for Turbulence Level Measurement Test in Wind Tunnels

Research on signal filtering method of turbulence level measurement in compressible fluid using hot-wire-anemometry in high speed wind tunnels is carried out to meet requirements of evaluation of flow quality with high accuracy. Low pass filter was used directly to process the signal of output voltage fluctuation of hot-wire anemometer in the existing measurement technique. However, there is strong spatial electromagnetic radiation (SER) interference in the test section of probe calibration wind tunnel after reconstruction, which leads to large fluctuation amplitude of output voltage of hot-wire anemometer, unreasonable values of turbulence level results (over 2 percent) and small goodness of fit (below 0.9), and these problems cannot be solved by the existing low pass filter. In order to solve the problems mentioned before, adaptive band-stop filtering method is used to improve signal processing results. Turbulence level measurement experiments are carried out with Mach number varied from 0.3 to 0.5 and the improved signal processing method is used for filtration of output voltage fluctuation of hot-wire anemometer. The results show that turbulence level is reasonable (0.3%~0.4%) and goodness of fit is large (over 0.99), which verify the feasibility of application of adaptive band-stop filtering method to signal processing of output voltage fluctuation of hot-wire anemometer.
