In the rapidly developing Internet age, the security and stability of network information are closely related to countries, enterprises and individuals, and Penetration test is an important means to maintain the security of cyberspace. Based on this background, this article will sort out the process and methods of penetration testing, and provide a detailed introduction to the methods and characteristics involved in these steps. A small experimental penetration scope will be established to demonstrate the universality of the testing process, including detailed explanations and use cases of a small number of scanning tools, vulnerability detection tools, vulnerability exploitation scripts, and analyze the reasons and exploitation process of vulnerabilities from a theoretical perspective, Simultaneously explore the application and value of Kali system penetration testing in network security. Through experiments and analysis of the Kali system, we found that it has flexibility, ease of use, and strong scalability, which can meet the needs of different penetration testing scenarios. With the rapid development of information technology, network security is facing increasingly severe challenges, and penetration testing, as an active means of detecting and evaluating information system security, is receiving more and more attention. As a leading penetration testing operating system, Kali system provides powerful penetration testing capabilities for security professionals with the support of its built-in numerous tools and functions. Finally, this article summarizes the advantages and limitations of Kali system penetration testing, and looks forward to future development trends.
