초록

The increasing prevalence of technology-related crimes has brought attention to cyber forensics worldwide. Its purpose is to identify and preserve digital evidence, extract information, and analyze it to aid in making time-sensitive decisions. However, Digital Forensic Investigations (DFIs) lack a solid framework that provides dependable insight into significant cyber-attack patterns. According to the Global Cyber Security Index (GCI), Pakistan’s technological and organizational efforts are lacking, posing a threat to national security. This article focuses on the establishment of a state coordinated DFI framework to address challenges posed by cybercrime. To construct a conceptual model for DFI infrastructure, a policy-based approach and various elements such as legal, technical, organizational, capacity building, and cooperative efforts are employed. This model is organized into pillars to simplify the DFI infrastructure. The main goal of this study is to offer empirical evidence to policymakers in order to develop a comprehensive DFI framework in Pakistan and provide recommendations for enhancing the infrastructure to effectively combat cybercrime.
