Egypt has lately begun to strengthen cybersecurity legislation to face increasing digital threats. Among such developments is the issuance of the Personal Data Protection Law and the Law of Combating Information Technology Crimes, which reflect the Egyptian state’s commitment to combating cybercrimes and protecting data in general. In this study, we discuss the impact of these developments on the judicial system in several aspects, as cybersecurity laws provide a legal basis for punishing cybercrime perpetrators, and also enhance the ability to investigate and collect digital evidence, and modern legislation also provides effective security measures to protect sensitive data. Despite the expected opportunities, the litigation system may face many challenges as a result of these technological developments, most notably challenges related to infrastructure. The need to develop expertise and build capabilities for elements of the judicial system also appears to understand and apply new laws, as well as challenges related to privacy and algorithmic bias, which require special legislative amendments from a procedural standpoint to keep pace with this rapid development.
