Engagement of Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: University of Petra as a Case Study

A survey of 105 instructors from University of Petra (UOP) Faculties of Arts and Science (FAS) and Information Technology (FIT) was conducted, expressing their views on the efficiency of the current artificial intelligence (AI) tools against human cognitive abilities. The survey examined what instructors expect from the development of AI, who will adopt AI technologies, whether economies will accelerate adoption of AI technologies in the education sector, how widespread adoption of these technologies will impact different countries, and what risks AI might present to individual privacy. This survey is intended to find out what UOP instructors expect AI to become in education and how they expect to incorporate it. This will help to yield useful insights to guide strategies to facilitate effective implementation of AI within this context. In addition, the results will help UOP prepare for AI's chanaing landscape and what it means for higher education.
