초록

Internet of Things based Agriculture (Ag-IoT) is an emerging technology that provides a wide range of applications in agriculture. In this article, we focus on the vulnerability and threat assessment of IoT devices and their consequences on Agriculture 4.0. We conducted experiments on a prototype model of a smart irrigation system to investigate the impact of attacks on the functionality and availability of the targeted Ag-IoT system. We also present different promising mitigation techniques that can prevent attacks on the UART serial communication port and methods of investigation when unfortunate incidents occur. The results obtained from the experiment highlight the importance of implementing robust security measures to protect against such attacks and ensure the reliable and secure operation of smart irrigation systems. The findings of this study will help cyber security professionals understand the vulnerabilities of UART ports and how they can be exploited to launch attacks on Ag-loT systems and propose mitigation techniques. On the contrary, the UART port can be used to collect evidence for forensic investigators in an incident investigation. It is imperative to invest in robust cyber security measures, conduct extensive research on mitigation strategies, and establish readiness in cyber forensics for effective incident response and investigation.
