IoT Security Innovations: Recent Technologies, Threats, and Solutions

초록

The potential of current and future IoT applications is significant in enhancing user comfort, productivity, and automation. However, in order to continue implementing this technology on a larger scale heterogeneous devices, strong security measures, robust privacy protection and authentication mechanisms are needed. The emergence of an extensive range of IoT technologies that rely on the internet has resulted in a continual threat of cyber-attacks, wreaking havoc around the world. These attacks disrupt network security and can lead to illegal access, misuse, alteration, or denial of service. IoT-based real-world environments consider safety and confidentiality as key challenges. In present-day computing, safeguarding the infrastructure and networks of IoT is paramount due to the alarming and rapid increase in cyberattacks and security breaches. Due to resource constraints like limited computational power, memory, energy, protocols used, and network bandwidth, it isn’t easy to implement conventional security software on IoT devices. This creates a potential risk to the confidentiality, integrity, accessibility, and verifiability of the information. To upgrade comprehensive safety in IoT applications, it is necessary to modify their architecture to ensure end-to-end protection. The paper presents a brief knowledge of IoT security architecture and a comprehensive review of the latest solutions for IoT security such as Blockchain, Intrusion detection systems, Digital-Twin, and Fog computing, for significantly improving the security level of IoT. In addition, the article presents various security assaults at every layer. The area of applications and security challenges are also discussed.
