Method for Estimating the Convergence Parameters of Dynamic Routing Protocols in Computer Networks

초록

A method for estimating the convergence parameters of dynamic routing protocols in computer networks is proposed in the paper. This method makes it possible to estimate the convergence of the protocols on the basis of a comparison of the data transmission delay parameter under network normal operating conditions and under the conditions of the main link disconnection. In this method, as a criterion for estimating convergence, the use of the following characteristics is proposed: the overall transmission time of a set of packets, the maximum and the average packet transmission time. The difference between these parameters under different network operating conditions is substantiated to be used as a convergence criterion. The proposed method should be applied at the stage of designing or upgrading an enterprise network that makes it possible to optimize its architecture and use the most efficient dynamic routing protocol in a computer network of this class.
