VSIM: a new simulation and performance evaluation tool for MANET and VANET

Simulation software for ad hoc and mobile ad hoc networks often involves balancing multiple factors such as user-friendliness, graphical interface, modularity, granularity, extendibility, scalability, license type (open source or commercial), performance evaluation tools, mobility model generation capability, support for various routing protocols, and network support (wired and wireless). In this research, we introduce a new MANET and ad hoc network simulator that not only delivers accurate and reliable results with proper granularity, extendibility, modularity, and scalability but also prioritizes user-friendliness, ease of development and debugging, and open-source accessibility. The accuracy of our results is validated by comparing them with outcomes from the NS-2 simulator. Our simulator (VSIM) encompasses a variety of routing and link layer protocols, mobility and propagation models, and functionalities for creating diverse simulation scenarios and performance evaluation tools.
