Methods and Chanllenges of RF Conformance Test for 5G Millimeter Wave Terminals

5G millimeter wave (mm-wave) communication not only brings significantly higher communication capability, but also brings serious challenges to mobile terminals design and RF conformance test. This paper firstly introduces the progress of 3GPP standard on 5G mm-wave and concept of RF conformance test, then by further analyzing and discussing the new technologies and challenges brought by mm-wave terminals, over-the-air (OTA) testing methods defined in 3GPP are presented and their limitations and advantages are analyzed ° Moreover, measurement grid types, test metrics and test accuracy are also elucidated.
