Performance Enhancement of FBMC-OQAM System for 5G Wireless Communication

For 5G instances, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique might not be a viable approach because of spectrum leakage, a high peak-to- average power ratio (PAPR), and the requirement for precise temporal and frequency synchronization. Filter bank multi carrier (FBMC) modulation, which employs the pulse shaping concept to lessen the issue of spectral leakage, is anticipated to solve these restrictions. The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) architecture might not be the best choice for 5G scenarios due to its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR), spectrum leakage, and requirement for exact temporal and frequency synchronization. These restrictions are probably going to be removed by filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) modulation, which employs the pulse shaping principle to lessen the issue of spectral leakage. The FBMC users do not require synchronization in order to access the uplink of the communication system. The BER performance of FBMC and OFDM is calculated in the simulation while accounting for these combined channel impairments. The results show that when all of these impairments are present simultaneously, FBMC performs significantly better in terms of BER than OFDM. This modulation is referred to as FBMC.
