초록

With the rapid increase rate of cyber-attacks, network security has become a serious concern in modern tertiary institutions. Tertiary institutions face a range of complex network security issues, mainly driven by the need to safeguard and handle large volumes of data that are frequently susceptible to attacks. With such pertinent security concerns among institutions, a secure computer network has now become a necessity for tertiary institutions to protect users and institutions from security breaches. We hereby analyse emerging network security issues at modern tertiary institutions and draw appropriate conclusions on remediation approaches. This is achieved through desktop reviews and qualitative analysis of collected data. To minimise network security challenges, we recommend further studies on possible ways of mitigating emerging network security threats in tertiary institutions. The results indicated that tertiary institutions are faced with network security challenges both internally and externally.
