The invention of the internet has revolutionized various fields, promoting rapid progress across many sectors, including economics, social sciences, politics, geography, and entertainment. Advancements in computer networks and transportation have mutually reinforced each other. A notable development is Software-Defined Networking (SDN), which uses a dynamic and centralized approach by separating control and data planes. Concurrently, the transportation sector is evolving with automation and advanced sensors in vehicles, supported by simulation software like Mininet for SDN networks and SUMO for road traffic. Despite their importance in developing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), Mininet and SUMO are not integrated for simulating Software-Defined Vehicular Networks (SDVN) and are command-line-based, making them less user-friendly. To address this, we developed a web application that integrates Mininet and SUMO, providing user-friendly simulations for SDVN. This tool allows users to input parameters such as topology, vehicle count, protocols, speed, and transmission power, and outputs processed and visualized simulation data. Our SDVN testbed aims to support researchers in automated vehicles and ITS, advancing SDN applications in transportation. This integration facilitates realistic and comprehensive simulations, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation. With our project, we also do some visualization for the simulation. By making these tools accessible, we hope to accelerate advancements in SDN and ITS, ultimately benefiting society by paving the way for more connected and efficient intelligent transportation systems.
