A Comparative Study of Reliable Multidestination Data Transport Protocol with TCP and UDP in a Point-to-Multipoint Streaming Environment

초록

This paper presents a demonstrator designed to showcase and compare the performance of the Reliable Multidestination Data Transport Protocol (RMDT) with that of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP) in a point-to-multipoint streaming environment. The demonstrator employs five modern PCs, four monitors, and one network switch. A network emulator is used to introduce delays and losses. By streaming 4K video from the sender to the receivers in a point-to-multipoint manner, the study aims to provide insights into the viability of RMDT as an alternative to TCP and UDP in modern high-bandwidth applications.
