5G Non-Terrestrial-Network (NTN) is currently the most advanced satellite ground fusion and air space integration communication technology. It is an important technology for ground-based 5G cellular network communication systems aimed at new application scenarios such as satellite communication and low altitude communication. Research on the application of 5G NTN is of great significance for the construction of a strong and intelligent power grid. On the basis of elaborating on the situation and challenges faced by the new power system, it analyzes the key technical characteristics and application scenarios of 5G NT. Then, it proposes an application architecture for 5G NTN technology in the power industry based on the current blind spot communication needs of the new power system’s power business. It also constructs a hybrid satellite-terrestrial communication system (HSTCS) for power business, develops a time synchronization compensation model of HSTCS, and provides the application test results. Finally, the evolution and development trend of power, air, space, and space integration technology were discussed. Empowering the construction of a new power system through deep coupling of 5G NTN technology with the power grid, provide strong air space integrated communication support for multi service power transmission and information exchange, to lay the foundation for the construction of an integrated power communication network for space-air-ground.
