Terahertz (THz) frequencies has recently gained a lot of attention to the researchers over the globe due to the demand for ultra-high data rates, large wide bandwidth and ultra-high capacity capabilities for the new generation 5G beyond and 6G wireless communication networks. This THz bands facilitate seamless connectivity between ultra-fast on-chip networks and personal wireless devices such as laptops, mobile phones etc., This research study presents a metasurface based hybrid plasmonic waveguide fed THz antenna operating at 3 THz. The metasurface layer, featuring a 3 × 3 array of silver patches effectively enlarging the effective aperture area of the antenna. Utilizing Ffinite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) based modelling & simulations, the designed meta-material/surface based waveguide fed THz on-chip antenna achived a bandwidth of 150 GHz, realized gain of 3.279 dBi, and an efficiency of 81% for on-chip wireless applications.
