Design and Implementation of Optimized Link State Routing Based on IDP Protocol

In optimized link state routing protocol, nodes need to periodically exchange control messages to obtain the network topology and calculate routes. In order to reduce the control message overhead of OLSR, this paper proposes an IDP based OLSR protocol, namely IDP-OLSR. Based on the characteristics of the IDP protocol, this paper redesigns three main control messages of OLSR, including Hello messages, TC messages, and MID messages, and implements IDP-OLSR on the Linux operating system. We can observe that compared to the standard OLSR protocol, IDP-OLSR can achieve lower control message overhead and reduce the number of routing entries in the node’s routing table.
