Design and Evaluation of A Multi-domain Software Defined Network

초록

Software defined network (SDN) uses the idea of hierarchical control plane and data plane to break the closure of traditional network equipment and increase scalability by programming. The data plane is only responsible for forwarding data according to the rules issued by the control plane. The function of the control plane mainly depends on the controller, while the traditional SDN is basically managed by a single controller. However, in practical application, with the gradual expansion of the network scale and the rapid growth of network information, the ability of the controller to process network information can no longer meet 3people's needs, and the SDN network ability of a single controller cannot keep up with the development, it is imperative to expand SDN into multi domain SDN with multi controller. In this paper, a multi domain SDN is designed and implemented. Under the assumption that a controller manages a domain, the multi domain SDN is divided into core domain and edge domain. The experimental environment is built with Mininet and Ryu to construct the network topology and realize the mutual Ping between hosts.
