The Forensic Investigation Model to Empower Investigation Agencies in the Era of Digital Technology

The modern digital age has posed severe challenges for investigative authorities in conducting forensic investigations, especially regarding cybercrimes and a variety of other crimes including fraud. A generic Digital Forensic Investigation model. The Dynamic Forensic Investigation Framework Model (DFIFM) introduced in this paper is a comprehensive and strategic approach to serve as both model of digital forensic capabilities for agencies who may be ill positioned with the ability navigate through the maze of new territories on their own. DFIFM forecasts include those for innovative technologies, linking methods to new national and international cooperation models, establishment of training programmes addressing the advancement of specialization in digital investigation skills and enhanced policies/practices developed around prospective frameworks unique from traditional investigative pornography type cases. Implementation of this framework will enable investigative agencies to perform comprehensive digital forensic examinations, collect actionable evidence and prosecute crimes faster as well. In so doing, investigative agencies will be far better equipped to conduct proper and timely digital forensic analysis on mobile devices or the cloud producing solid evidentiary outcomes for prosecution against those who commit crimes in the world wide web. This study provides some deep insights into digital forensics along with the dominance of advanced tools as well i.e. machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI). A roadmap for investigative agencies planning to upgrade their potential in the fight against cybercrimes and digital offenses.
