With the ubiquitous use of instant messaging applications in both personal and professional communication, the demand for effective digital forensic tools tailored to these platforms has become imperative. This research paper introduces the Instant Messenger Forensic System (IMFS), a project designed to address the challenges associated with extracting, analyzing, and managing digital artifacts from widely-used instant messaging applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and WeChat. The IMFS paper aims to bridge this gap by developing a specialized tool capable of efficient data extraction, in- depth analysis, and the generation of legally admissible reports. By addressing the complexities posed by the security measures of instant messaging applications, IMFS enhances the capabilities of investigators, contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of digital forensic investigations. The pervasive use of instant messaging applications globally has led to an increase in digital crimes and incidents such as cyberbullying, data breaches, and harassment on these platforms. IMFS responds to the growing need for sophisticated digital forensic solutions tailored to instant messaging data, providing advanced methodologies and tools to collect, preserve, and analyze digital evidence. Through this research, IMFS seeks to aid law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, cybersecurity experts, and digital forensics investigators in retrieving and interpreting critical evidence, ensuring the preservation of digital evidence in our rapidly evolving digital communication landscape.
